Brachypelma Albiceps (Mexican Golden Red Rump)
Brachypelma albiceps, commonly known as the Mexican Golden Red Rump tarantula, is a captivating species with a striking appearance and calm temperament.
Brachypelma albiceps is a medium-sized tarantula, with adult females typically reaching a body length of about 2.5 to 3 inches (approximately 6.5 to 7.5 cm). Adult males are slightly smaller, measuring around 2 to 2.5 inches (approximately 5 to 6.5 cm) in body length. The leg span of both males and females can reach up to 5 inches (approximately 12.5 cm) or more. Despite their moderate size, these tarantulas are known for their robust and stocky build, which contributes to their striking appearance.
Brachypelma albiceps is native to Mexico and is specifically found in the states of Guerrero and Michoacán. In their natural habitat, they inhabit various terrestrial environments, including forests, grasslands, and scrublands. These regions provide suitable conditions for the tarantulas to thrive and find shelter for their burrowing behavior.
As terrestrial spiders, they construct burrows or retreats in the ground, which they use for shelter and security. These burrows serve as a safe place for the tarantulas to reside during the day and emerge at night to hunt for food. Brachypelma albiceps is an adaptable species, and its ability to inhabit diverse habitats within its native range contributes to its successful distribution in the wild.
